I've always had an interest in photography, since I was very
young. It didn't truly become a passion until I began diving in
1990 while visiting Egypt as a sailor in the US Navy. I
immediately went out and purchased my first underwater
camera after arriving stateside in 1991. It was a point & shoot
Canon A6, used, and from a small convention in Alabama.
After a few years and a few hundred dives, it finally died on a
trip to Grand Cayman. For the rest of the trip, I rented several
different types of cameras. That's when I discovered the
Nikonos V and what a great camera it is. That is also
when I became serious about underwater photography. I
am mostly self taught from reading books but did have
some mentoring from other underwater photographers. I
spent a lot of time in the ocean and in the caves of North
Central Florida. After a few hundred more dives and a few
hundred rolls of film, it was again time to make another
transition. This time from film to digital.
After my first digital SLR and housing for underwater, I
began to enjoy photography out of the water as well. That
is how I arrived here today. I spend more time these days
shooting topside, but still love the underwater world, and
sharing it with others. My favorite technique is to observe
and capture subjects in their natural environment.
I hope your visit to this site is enjoyable and the images
